Hurricane Sandy Kills 21 In The Caribbean, Sets Its Sights On The East Coast

Hurricane Sandy pounded the Bahamas with battering winds and rain on Friday after killing 21 people across the Caribbean, and the storm now poses a menacing threat to the US East Coast.

Weather trackers say the hardest-hit areas could span anywhere from the coastal Carolinas up to Maine, with New York City and the Boston area potentially in harm’s way

Experts predict at least $1 billion in damage in the United States.

Hurricane Sandy, Now A Category 2, Eventually Will Impact New England

Sandy overnight became a category 2 hurricane as it moved through the Caribbean. The computers models continue to show eventually the storm will end up in New England. The exact evolution of Sandy during its journey here will determine just how badly she affects the area. Let me say upfront that the storm could cause big problems for sections of the east coast so the concern is justified. I will not be hyping the storm in the blog, rather I will just present the information as I know it and as it evolves. The storm hit Cuba last night with winds in excess of 110 miles per hours. There is high confidence in the path of the storm through the weekend, its what happens thereafter that is still causing some uncertainly.
