Three New York City police officers were shot and wounded in two separate incidents on Thursday night.
Two officers were shot at a Brooklyn subway station and the gunman was killed, police said. Both officers are in stable condition, officials said.
Earlier Thursday night, an off-duty officer was shot in the Bronx during an attempted robbery, police said. His wounds were not considered life-threatening.
“In recent weeks we’ve heard that what stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said on Thursday night at the news conference, held at Lutheran Medical Center. “But sometimes the good guys get shot.” Mr. Bloomberg renewed his call for stronger gun restrictions.
