Franz Kafka’s Birthday Celebrated With Google Doodle

Franz Kafka's birthday celebrated with Google Doodle

Google has metamorphosed its Doodle to celebrate the 130th birthday of avant garde Czech novelist Franz Kafka.
Google has metamorphosed its Doodle to celebrate the 130th birthday of avant garde Czech novelist Franz Kafka.
Evoking Kafka’s best known work, The Metamorphosis, the six letters of the Google logo are transformed into a cockroach. Unlike the tortured author’s vision, though, the stylized cockroach is stepping out in a trilby and briefcase, sporting a bow tie.
The Metamorphosis, published in 1915, tells the story of travelling salesman Gregor Samsa, who inexplicably one morning wakes up as a giant vermin, usually taken as a cockroach.
Kafka died of tuberculosis in 1924 at the age of 40. Several of his dark, tormented works were published after his death, against his wishes. But they helped secure his reputation among the great early 20th century European writers who defined alienation.
