A-Rod Allegedly Paid Cousin for Silence

Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez allegedly paid his cousin Yuri Sucart almost $1 million to remain quiet about the slugger’s alleged use of performance-enhancing drugs, according to the New York Daily News. The paper reports that Rodriguez, who just finished serving a season-long ban for his role in the Biogenesis scandal, entered into a confidential settlement with Sucart on June 5, 2013, agreeing to make one $700,000 payment to Sucart for his silence, in addition to three more payments that totalled $200,000, according to court papers filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The court papers say Sucart threatened to expose A-Rod’s doping secrets unless he coughed up “enormous sums of money,” the newspaper reports.
