Half Of Republicans Would Back Postponing 2020 Election

According to a WaPo poll more than half of Republicans think the 2020 election should be postponed “until the country can make sure that only eligible American citizens can vote”.

Those fears likely stem from President Donald Trump’s repeated assertions, in attempts to explain away the fact that he lost the popular vote by close to three million votes, that “millions of people” voted illegally.

Despite the claim flying in the face of all evidence, the Trump administration is directing funds to a “Commission on Election Integrity,” charged with investigating voter fraud, chaired by Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.

And it appears Trump’s certainty — in the face of all evidence — of widespread voter fraud has been embraced by his supporters, and almost half go even further to assert drastic measures be taken until the millions of alleged illegal voters are under control.

According to the Post, a staggering 47 percent of Republicans believe Trump won the popular vote (he lost by nearly three million), 68 percent believe that millions of illegal immigrants voted, and 52 percent said they would support postponing the 2020 election “until the country can make sure that only eligible American citizens can vote.”

The Post notes that it’s unlikely anyone will propose postponing the 2020 election, but it is nonetheless astounding that so many Republicans have bought into, without question, President Trump’s complete fabrications about voter fraud.
