Mitt Romney Wouldn’t Put Dog On Roof Again Because Of ‘Attention It’s Received’

The more I learn of Mitt Romney, the more I am reminded of the 90s TV show, Third Rock from the Sun. In the show, a “family” of space aliens lands on earth. They look human, but they are completely clueless as to how to act human. They do learn, but not out of an innate sense of right and wrong. They learn (ironically much like a dog) by observing reactions, by being rewarded or punished. The aliens never achieve the ability to feel what is right and wrong and according to all the evidence I’ve seen, neither have the Romneys.

One of the most famous stories about the Romneys as a family was a car trip they took to Canada. During that trip, they put the dog on the roof of the car, in a crate. The dog defecated all over the car. The Romneys pulled over, and Mitt, in full crisis mode, hosed everything down and stuck the dog back up on the roof. To this day, no one in that family seems to recognize why dog-loving Americans are offended by this story. ABC’s Diane Sawyer asked the candidate if he would do it again. His answer was, “Certainly not with the attention it’s received.”

Ann Romney, who is supposed to be the more empathetic face in the Romney clan, elaborated further:

“The dog loved it,” she said. “Once, he — we traveled all the time and he — he ate the turkey on the counter. I mean, he had the runs.”

“But — he would see that crate and, you know, he would, like, go crazy because he was going with us on vacation. It was to me a kinder thing to bring him along than to leave him in the kennel for two weeks, so.”

Here’s the video:

This isn’t the first time that Mitt Romney has come around to a decision out of political expediency. Remember when he fired his landscaping company for having undocumented workers because he was “running for office, for Pete’s sake?” Romney has flip-flopped on almost every single issue. It’s come to the point where voters shouldn’t ask what his true views are on positions. Perhaps we should be asking if he’s even human.
