Newt Gingrich Campaign Bounces Check, Doesn’t Even Have $500 To Spend

Newt Gingrich once vowed to stay in the Republican Presidential race to the very end. Of course it would help if he actually had any money left for his campaign to spend. Not too long ago, Gingrich’s sugar daddy, Sheldon Adelson, abandoned Gingrich for a younger and richer man named Mitt Romney, leaving Newt’s campaign without its most important source of funding. Obviously feeling hurt like his two ex-wives, Gingrich must have been too distraught to notice that his campaign was broke. So when a Gingrich representative filed the necessary papers and $500 fee to qualify for the Utah Republican primary, it must have been shocking for Newt to learn that the check had bounced.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune,

“Utah Elections Director Mark Thomas said a designated agent for the Gingrich campaign brought the filing papers and a check for $500 in March, but the state was notified by the bank that the check had bounced. He said the office has tried to contact the Gingrich campaign through the telephone number and email provided on the application, but has not received a response.”

This is certainly a humorous story. Newt Gingrich has constantly claimed that Republicans can get America out of debt, and that he himself can more responsibly manage America’s finances better than President Obama. But Gingrich can’t even prevent his own campaign from bouncing a $500 check. We aren’t talking about $10,000 or $500,000 like Gingrich owes Tiffany’s. It’s $500. Gingrich has a net worth of at least $6 million and he can’t prevent a $500 check from bouncing. That’s just sad. On Tuesday afternoon, Rick Santorum dropped out of the race on a decently high note. He suspended his campaign to focus on his family and he had a narrow lead in his home state of Pennsylvania. It’s definitely better than going out a loser in your home state. Gingrich on the other hand, is humiliating himself. He’s delusional if he thinks he can make it all the way to the Republican Convention in Tampa and become the nominee. He can’t afford a $500 filing fee, how is his campaign supposed to get through the rest of the summer? Gingrich, like many Republicans, made a commitment he couldn’t keep and continues to be an embarrassment to his party.
