Ron Paul Receives Social Security Checks, Says It’s OK For Him But Bad For Everyone Else (VIDEO)
In what has to be the most hypocritical admission of 2012, Ron Paul freely confirmed that he receives Social Security checks but thinks the rest of us shouldn’t be able to.

During a Tuesday morning appearance on Morning Joe on MSNBC, Paul admitted that despite his constant calls for abolishing the popular Social Security program, he himself has been receiving and accepting monthly Social Security checks in addition to his government salary. When challenged on his apparent hypocrisy, Paul claimed that it’s perfectly acceptable for him to get Social Security while trying to force every other American out of the program.

RON PAUL: “I want young people to opt out of Social Security. In my more pragmatic stands on how we get to the place I want to go, actually I’m probably offering a program where some of these programs that we have taught people to be so dependent on, I would probably preserve them longer than others because we are going to lose them because of the bankruptcy that is coming.”

SAM STEIN: “Are you on Social Security. Do you get Social Security checks?”

RON PAUL: “I do.”

SAM STEIN: “You just told younger generations that they should wean themselves off of this social contract but you haven’t done it yourself. You’re not the wealthiest man in Congress, I’m not saying that. But you have enough means to take care of yourself in retirement. Shouldn’t you provide an example?”

RON PAUL: “No, I think the programs are so designed, just as I use the post office too. I use government highways. I do that too. I use the banks. I use the Federal Reserve system. But that doesn’t mean you can’t work to remove this. The same way on Social Security, I am trying to make a transition. I personally don’t see any inconsistency in that.”

Here’s the video:

The Texas congressman’s plan to strangle Social Security is consistent with statements and interviews he’s had in the past such as one on Meet The Press with David Gregory, but for the first time, Paul admits that he is in fact a Social Security recipient. The fact is, Social Security would implode if Ron Paul’s plan ever were to be put into action. Under Paul’s plan there would be no contributions to the trust by younger generations of Americans, meaning Social Security would cease to have funds available to make payouts to future seniors. It would go bust. The notion that we can fix Social Security by letting younger generations opt out of paying their fair contribution of payroll taxes is ludicrous. The only real way to permanently fix Social Security is by applying the payroll tax to all income and not just to income up to $100,000.

Ron Paul thinks it’s quite alright for him to be accepting money from the government that he personally doesn’t need, but he believes that young Americans aren’t as entitled to receive Social Security as he is. Keep in mind that this comes from a man who says government money makes people lazy and keeps them from being self-sufficient and responsible. Just another example of ‘do as I say, not as I do’ conservative philosophy.
