Selling The Snake Oil Like It’s Hot: Romney Says Obama Is The Most ‘Anti-Business, Anti-Investment’ President

During an entitled rich guy speech to fellow entitled rich guys, Willard “Lord Hairgel” Romney helped resurrected a favorite GOP talking point among the residents of crazytown (the really rich and gated parts) when he assailed President Obama as being “the most anti-investment, anti-business, anti-jobs series of policies in modern American history.” (Huffington Post)

Addressing an audience of the Business Roundtable in a 30-minute speech, the BFF of corporations hyped up 2012 as a “watershed election” that will “determine the relationship between citizen and enterprise and government.”

The multimillionaire Land’s End model has predominantly presented himself as having an advanced business acumen that will restore (outsource) the US economy to its former greatness. Romney’s time at Bain Capital has produced enough fodder of the ridiculously well-coiffed candidate being a consultant-in-chief, or, better yet, a vulture capitalist who preys on struggling companies and discards working class employees in order to pocket untold wealth. But Romney’s casino capitalism and questionable business expertise isn’t what’s relevant here. The fact that Romney is joining the Republican inane clown posse and painting Obama as anti-business is the point of contention here and it’s nauseatingly disingenuous.

For residents of the fact based community, U.S. corporations are bursting with profits and amassing the biggest earnings growth in two decades. Obama is one of only five presidents to see DOW Jones gain over 50 percent in first three years; corporate profits have surged 62% from the start of 2009 to mid-2010; private sector job creation under President Obama has far exceeded private sector job creation under President Bush. All of which was done after inheriting an economic sh#t storm of epic proportions and achieved while trying to work with an army of obstructionist, demented man-children in Congress. One of Obama’s chief criticisms leveled by progressives is that he’s in fact too business-friendly. Just don’t tell that to Romney.

“Too often, you find yourself facing a government that looks at you as the bad guy,” Romney said. “Government has to be the partner, the friend, the ally, the supporter of enterprise. Not the enemy.” (Huffington Post)

The question now is how long will Mr. Etch-a-Sketch stick to this misleading narrative before he jumps to a new misleading narrative.
