FBI identifies thieves in 1990 museum heist; paintings’ locations remain unknown

Federal law enforcement officials said today that they have identified the people who stole $500 million worth of masterworks in a heist from Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990. They said they’ve determined where the artworks traveled in the years after the robbery, considered the greatest art theft in history. But officials say they don’t know where they are now and are appealing to the public for their help in finding them.
