19 yo black woman is shot in the head while seeking help after a car crash in a white neighbourhood

Lawyer for family of Detroit woman slain on Dearborn Heights porch says shooting wasn’t accidental

In Saturday’s shooting incident, Renisha McBride, says her family, may have been disoriented after she hit a parked car with her older model Taurus and then went seeking help. Little else has been publicly released about the circumstances of McBride’s death. But the woman died of a shotgun blast to the head outside the home in Dearborn Heights.

Dearborn Heights police said they have “identified the person who fired the shot and killed the woman.” But police have refused to release further details of their investigation.

Police have told the family the shooter is a man in his 50s. The Detroit News contacted the homeowner Thursday, who would only confirm that he has hired an attorney. He is not being identified because no charges have been filed.
