Former MLB Pitcher Tommy Hanson Dies [VIDEO]

Former Atlanta Braves pitcher Tommy Hanson died in Atlanta on Monday after falling into a coma, a person close to Hanson said. The 29-year-old reportedly suffered “catastrophic organ failure” and had been hospitalized since Sunday, WSB-TV reports. Hanson pitched for the San Francisco Giants minor-league system during the 2015 season and spent four of his five major-league seasons with Atlanta . The 6-foot-6 pitcher was traded to the Los Angeles Angels following the 2012 season, when he spent three weeks away from the club in the wake of the death of his stepbrother. Hanson finished third in National Leauge Rookie of the Year voting in 2009, when he won 11 games and posted a 2.89 earned-run average.
