San Francisco Votes Down Anti-Airbnb Measure [VIDEO]

San Francisco voters on Tuesday rejected a measure aimed at restricting companies like Airbnb and short-term rentals. Proposition F would have curbed renting out rooms, houses, or apartments for short periods of time, from 90 days per year to 75 days. The measure would have also required Airbnb hosts to submit quarterly reports to the city on how often they rented out and how many days they lived at their home in San Francisco, where residents are struggling with a housing shortage and widening wealth gap. Airbnb spent more than $8 million to fight the measure while supporters, including hotels, hotel unions, and housing advocates, spent around $800,000. According to the San Francisco Department of Elections, 55 percent of the voters opposed Proposition F while 45 percent were in favor, with 100 percent of precincts reporting.
